RINGWORM


Ringworm is the fungus infection which may appear on any part of the body or on the scalp. It may occur between the toes and between the leg. Usually the fungus grows in the form of a ring and so is called ringworm. The infection spreads mostly among children. The symptoms are lesions grow slowly, starting as a round papule and growing from its edge. The edge of the ring is always easy to see. It is more thick and red than the middle. The middle is covered by dry white scales. Ringworm often itches. The care and treatment are bathe daily with soap and water and break the crusts. Apply whitfield’s ointment or tincture of iodine, or a cream made of one part sulphur to 10 parts of oil. Keep the affected parts exposed to air or sunlight and free from sweat. Wear clean clothing. It can be prevent by keeping the toilet articles and clothing of the person with ringworm separately and examine all contacts.
