MEDICINE FOR ANTI MALARIAL
It is one of the major health problems. There are 300-500 million cases globally and 1.5-2.7 million deaths occur due to malaria each year, 90% of which are in Africa. The aims of using medicine in relation to malarial infection are to prevent and treat clinical attack of malaria. To completely eradicate the parasite from the patient’s body. To reduce the human reservoir of infection – cut down transmission to mosquito.
The symptoms are
• high fever
• Feeling discomfort
• Malaise
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea occur with bloody stools
• Anaemia
It can prevented by,
• Do not allow water to stagnate anywhere.
• While sleeping use mosquito repellents. If you are allergic to the mosquito repellent, then you can use bed nets or mosquito nets.
Most commonly used medicine is Chloroquine. The brand name is RESOCHIN, CLOQUIN. The side effect of the medicine are frequent and unpleasant, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, uncontrollable itching, epigastric pain, difficulty in accommodation and head ache. Prolonged use of high doses may cause loss of vision due to retinal damage. Loss of hearing, rashes, photoallergy, mental disturbances, myopathy and graying of hair can occur on long term use of the medicine. Suppressive dose have been safely given for 3 years. Parenteral chloroquine should be avoided to children – convulsions and deaths have occurred.
